UmiNavi — A Self-Localization System for Underwater Drones for Individual Developers

Thumbnail - UmiNavi — A Self-Localization System for Underwater Drones for Individual Developers

An open-source self-localization system that lowers the entry barrier posed by the need for expensive acoustic positioning systems for underwater localization where GPS signals cannot reach, enabling individuals to conduct underwater exploration using high-precision location information.

Traditionally, underwater self-localization in GPS-denied environments has required costly acoustic positioning systems costing several million yen(tens of thousands of USD), making them inaccessible to individual developers.

This project aims to eliminate this barrier of high cost and inaccessibility, creating an environment where anyone can take on underwater exploration using precise location information.
